Dr. Bernard R. Bach Jr. Honored
Chicago, IL - Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is pleased to announce the election of Oak Park resident Bernard R. Bach Jr., M.D., as president-elect of both the Herodicus Sports Medicine Society and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). "The elections of Dr. Bach to the presidencies of both the Herodicus Sports Medicine Society and the AOSSM are exemplary of the standing of our sports medicine program within the orthopaedic professional community," says Charles Bush-Joseph, M.D., Managing Partner of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine is a world leader in sports medicine education, research, communication, and fellowship. Founded in 1972, AOSSM is a national organization comprised of 2,000 dedicated orthopaedic surgeons. A longtime member of the AOSSM, Dr. Bach has served as the organization's treasurer the past four years. As president-elect, he will serve as vice president through 2006, president-elect through 2007, and president through 2008. Dr. Bach will head the Herodicus Sports Medicine Society through 2006. The society is comprised of 90 international leaders in the field of sports medicine, and includes prominent professional sports team physicians and academic sports medicine program directors. As Director of Sports Medicine at Rush since 1986, Dr. Bach has developed a nationally recognized sports medicine program. He has published nearly 300 scientific papers, abstracts and book chapters. Dr. Bach serves on numerous national sports committees, editorial boards, and is an educator of residents, fellows, and his patients. Dr. Bach has been selected to the Chicago Magazine's "Top Doctors" in 1996, 2000, and 2004, and is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in sports medicine. Along with the other members of the sports medicine program, he has been selected as a team physician for the Chicago White Sox baseball team for 2004/2005 season and the Chicago Bulls for the 2005/2006 season.
