The author and co-author of more than 250 academic papers and over 150 books and book chapters mostly related to back pain and back injuries, Dr. Andersson has been at the forefront of spine surgery research and education for more than 30 years.

Dr. Andersson came to this country as a visiting professor in 1976, and made the Chicago area his home in 1985. He spent most of his formative years as an orthopaedic surgeon at Sahlgren Hospital, the University of Goteborg, Sweden, and is credited with designing the seat in Volvo automobiles.

A member of numerous organizations and societies dealing with research and care of back patients, Dr. Andersson is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He and his wife, Kerstin, have two children.
