Dr. Blomgren's practice provides Osteopathic Manipulation, Joint and Musculoskeletal Injections, Fracture Care, Concussion Management, Compartment Pressure Testing, Sports Dermatology and Sports Physicals. He is one of the co-team physicians for the Chicago White Sox, head team physician for Willowbrook High School athletics, team physician/medical director for Snoop Youth Football League-Chicago, serves as medical provider for Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Medical Director for Chicago Athlete Magazine 20-Miler.
A native of West Point, Iowa, where he was valedictorian of his class and a four-sport athlete in high school, Dr. Blomgren came to the Chicago metro area to attend Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. He was a member of the men's soccer team there. Dr. Blomgren received his D.O. degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University. While there he served as class president for two years and received the Dean's Commendation Award. During his time there he became interested in musculoskeletal medicine and developed a love for Osteopathic Manipulation. He completed a Family Practice Residency at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Blomgren is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Following residency, he completed a Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center where he worked alongside many of the physicians at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. During his fellowship, Dr. Blomgren served as one of the team physicians for DePaul University and Trinity International University providing injury evaluations in the training room and providing sideline coverage for home football, basketball and soccer games.
Dr. Blomgren is dedicated to caring for the injured athlete and diagnosing and treating a variety of musculoskeletal disorders and conditions. He has provided numerous talks to parents, student athletes and coaches on a variety of current sports issues and injury prevention. Having been a collegiate soccer player, Dr. Blomgren understands the needs and challenges the injured athlete faces.
