Dr. Verma specializes in the treatment of injuries to the shoulder, elbow and knee with an emphasis on advanced arthroscopic techniques, meniscal transplantation and cartilage restorative procedures.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Verma completed his orthopaedic residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. While in New York, he served as an assistant team physician for the St. John's University Athletic Department. He also received specialized training in treatment of elbow disorders in the overhead throwing athlete.
Outside of his clinical duties, Dr. Verma has participated in multiple publications and book chapters regarding shoulder and knee surgery. His current research interests include healing of rotator cuff tendons after arthroscopic repair, and outcome studies after knee ligament reconstruction.
Dr. Verma has agreements regarding the development and licensing of certain sports medicine implants and instruments for which he receives payment from manufacturers. He also has consulting agreements with Smith and Nephew Endoscopy and Arthrosurface. In addition, he receives research support from multiple companies within the orthopaedic industry.
