Complications from Clubfoot Correction Procedure

I had Triple Arthrodesis for clubfoot at the age of 11 which produced the obvious physical limitations of range of motion. I have, however, remained extremely active and just gave up years of running due to increased pain. I received a steroid injection into the ankle this past fall, which I hope will "buy time" for any invasive treatment. What kinds of surgical treatments are available to reduce pain and increase flexibility for those of us with clubfoot repairs?

Hip Resurfacing vs. Hip Replacement

In a recent article featured in the CDGA pertaining to hip resurfacing for golfers as opposed to hip replacement, it wasn't clear under what general circumstances hip replacement would be preferable. Could you comment further or recommend additional reading as resource material?

Treatment Options for Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

I am a PGA Club Professional and I have recently been told that I have Cubital Tunnel Syndrome in my right elbow. X-rays showed some loose cartilage, but the doctor didn't seem to think that was causing the issue. I have been given a splint for sleeping at night, and some anti-inflammatories, but the pain during the day, even when not active, is intense burning in my fingers and constant numbness and discomfort. Should I opt for surgery now, wait the six weeks for the splint to possibly have an effect, or try something else? Obviously this is critical to my continued success as a teacher and player of golf. Also, what is the recovery time for surgery and expected success rate?

Sore Feet and Calves

The bottoms of my feet and my calves get extremely sore and achy if I am on my feet for any period of time. I wear shoes with good support and I'm sure that they help but, at times, the pain is unbearable and makes it difficult to walk. I've been told that I have flat feet. Could this be the cause of this tired and achy feeling? I'm thinking of seeing a doctor for this.

Adolescent Athlete's Persistent Heel Pain

My 14-year-old son has been experiencing extreme pain in his heels during basketball practice. It slows him down and he can't perform on the court. He is on a travel team and as he ages the practices become more intense. We have tried orthotics, heel cups, and cork risers along with stretching to alleviate the pain but it persists. We have seen two local podiatrists and nothing helps. Is there anything else we can do?

Bone Spurs and Ganglion Cysts

For the past several months, I've had a small lump on the top of my right foot that is extremely tender. When I rub it, a strange sensation that feels like "pins and needles" runs down my foot to my toes. I am a skater and lately I've only been able to skate for three minutes at a time without pain. After working out, the pain radiates to my ankle and lower leg. What is this?

Running and Groin Strain

I have been experiencing pain in my inner thigh. There is also some bruising, swelling, and discomfort when I run and push off my right leg. How long do you think I'll need to rest before it heals?

Sacroiliac Joint and Low Back Pain

For several months I have been experiencing a deep tissue pain that starts in the upper part of my right glute and is accompanied by pain in my lower back. I cannot remember any specific incident that caused this injury. I take ibuprofen for the pain, but the condition keeps resurfacing and is now limiting my running routine. Could this be serious?

Chronic Foot Pain

Two years ago I had a hard impact injury to my right knee that left me with an inward curve to my joint. The pain has since subsided but over the past year I have developed a chronic burning pain in the arch of my foot as well as a pain on the inside of my ankle. Could my past knee injury be causing this?

Chronic Back Pain

I am 25 years old and have been struggling with lower back pain for about seven years now. I first noticed it while playing golf competitively when I was 18, and it never went away. I have been to an Orthopedic physician, who could not find anything wrong and sent me to physical therapy. The sharp pain still exists whether I'm standing, walking, running, sitting, etc. Can you help me?
