WGN 9 Medical Watch
The Alter G, a state-of-the-art anti-gravity treadmill available in the Physical and Occupational Therapy Clinic at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, was recently featured on WGN 9 Medical Watch. The Alter G allows patients to run at a lower body weight by decreasing the force of gravity on their body through an airtight compartment. The patients are able to still reach a full aerobic workout while decreasing the impact on their ankles, knees, hips and back.
Patients using the treadmill are able to customize their body weight percentage, allowing them to stimulate the healing process after an injury, and ultimately speeding recovery time. In addition to rehabilitation from injury, the treadmill can also be used as a cross training tool by allowing its user to train while decreasing damage to their joints.
The innovative machine and qualified therapists are located in the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy suite of the Orthopedic Building on Harrison and Ashland.
