One of the most common sights at a Chicago Bulls game is head coach Tom Thibodeau pacing the sidelines. Thanks to Dr. Craig Della Valle, hip and knee replacement specialist at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, the reigning coach of the year will continue his enthusiastic stride for years to come.
Coach Thibodeau underwent partial knee replacement surgery with Dr. Della Valle in mid-July, hoping to relieve pain from an old injury dating back to his playing days at Salem State. Surgery to remove cartilage after the meniscal tear injury had resulted in Thibodeau's knee being bone on bone, a painful condition that prevented him from exercising. After a successful surgery, Thibodeau is now on the elliptical and lifting weights at the Berto Center. He is now looking forward to getting back to his regular workouts.
