Gunnar Andersson, MD, PhD was presented with the prestigious Henry Farfan Basic Science Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in spine related basic science research.
Three individuals were honored with 2011 NASS Recognition Awards for their unique and outstanding contributions to the field of spine care and research by the North American Spine Society (NASS). NASS, comprised of more than 6,500 members, is a multidisciplinary medical organization dedicated to fostering the highest quality, ethical, value-based and evidence-based spine care through education, research and advocacy.
Dr. Andersson is Professor Emeritus at Rush University School of Medicine, Chicago, IL. He was also the Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Rush. Dr. Andersson is Past President of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine and the Orthopaedic Research Society. He has received numerous awards, including the Kappa Delta Award, and wrote or co-wrote more than 300 peer-reviewed publications.
