In the past, younger patients suffering from the pain of Hip Impingement Syndrome usually had to wait until the joint had deteriorated to the point of requiring a full hip replacement. Now, there's a solution for this type of hip condition that does not involve hip replacement. In an ABC 7 report by Sylvia Perez and Christine Tressel, MOR orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph explains how some surgeons are using arthroscopic techniques to reshape the hip bone and even repair tears to cartilage. The advantages of the procedure are numerous: smaller incisions, less muscle damage, reduced risk, and a shorter recovery period.
