Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Welcomes Chicago Lighthouse to the Orthopedic Building

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is proud to announce the opening of the Chicago Lighthouse convenience store in the Orthopedic Building located on the corner of Harrison St. and Ashland Ave. The new store opened on April 5, 2010 providing fresh sandwiches/salads, baked goods, snacks, and drinks to all patients and employees of the building.

The Chicago Lighthouse is an organization that works to fight unemployment among those who are visually impaired. The new state-of-the-art store located on the first floor of the Orthopedic Building will initially employ 4 blind or visually impaired individuals, and has been specially designed to accommodate the needs of blind workers.

In appreciation of the partnership with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, the Chicago Lighthouse recently recognized MOR at their first annual Volunteer Appreciation and Community Partners' Awards Breakfast. The event showcased clocks made at the Lighthouse by workers who are blind or visually impaired. For the past 30 years, the Chicago Lighthouse has held an exclusive agreement with the U.S. Government to assemble and distribute clocks to federal installations worldwide.
