The Hip Society, founded in 1968, is a non-profit educational organization that provides organized exchange of information about new ideas and techniques in the diagnosis and management of hip problems. The Hip Society sponsors an annual forum for orthopaedic surgeons on advances in knowledge and treatment of hip problems.
"I am honored to have the support of my peers in being selected as president of the Hip Society," says Dr. Paprosky. "It is truly a privilege to be part of this organization and in the company of so many surgeons who have made such significant contributions to the advancement of the study of the hip."
With nearly 150 members, the organization's influence on the field of hip orthopaedics is far greater than the membership quota may suggest. The society's far reaching influence is due to its emphasis on being a forum for knowledge exchange as well as education on hip disorders.
Dr. Paprosky will begin his responsibilities following the Hip Society meeting which takes place at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA, March 5-9, 2008.
