Dr. Holmes Discusses Mini TightRope Procedure in Orthopedics Today
George B. Holmes Jr., M.D.

Dr. George Holmes Jr., director of the foot and ankle department at Rush, was featured in Orthopedics Today discussing a bunion correction technique called the Mini TightRope Procedure. The technique that Dr. Holmes developed has enhanced postoperative recovery and mobilization for many of his patients.

The procedure works by threading a small suture wire between the first and second metatarsals of the foot and anchoring both sides. The wire is then tightened to realign the bone. The procedure differs from the typical bunion correction technique because it doesn't require any bones to be broken and allows for a much faster recovery.
