Dr. Brian Cole Performs a Cartilage Transplantation on The Doctors TV Show
The Doctors TV Show recently came to Chicago where they featured a segment explaining an innovative procedure used to help a young athlete recover from knee pain and return to the sport he loves. Dr. Brian Cole, Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush sports medicine physician and director of the cartilage restoration department at Rush University Medical Center, was featured in the segment.
Dr. Cole's patient, Mark, is a 19-year-old college football player that had suffered from a string of knee injuries that threatened to end his football career. Dr. Cole explained how he replaced the cartilage in Mark's knee in order to give his patient a second chance at getting back in the game. The new procedure is one that could help many patients ranging from professional athletes to weekend warriors to alleviate knee pain that at one time would've taken them out of the game.
