Many young athletes are experiencing osteopenia, a precursor to osteoporosis, a disease that is more commonly seen in older women. Dr. Weber expressed concern stating, "Instead of a time when we are building our bone banks when we are young, teenagers, young adults, we are now actually seeing a trend toward (bone) loss."
