Dr. Kathleen Weber, Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush sports medicine physician and the Director of Primary Care/Sports Medicine and Women's Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, has been elected President of the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association (MLBTPA). She is the first female to ever hold the title of president for this organization.
I'm honored to lead this group of talented doctors," Weber explains. "Serving in this role, I want to continue to build upon the outstanding care provided by the team physicians."
Dr. Weber currently serves as a team physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Force Women's Football. She is also the head team physician for the DePaul Blue Demons, Malcolm X College and a physician consultant for Hubbard Street and River North Dance Companies. In addition to her team physician role, she also serves as a member of the LPGA Medical Advisory Board, the NBA Team Physician's Executive Committee and the NBA research committee.
A former college athlete herself, Dr. Weber holds numerous awards for excellence in patient care, teaching excellence and was recently recognized as a "Health Champion" by Girls in the Game, a non-profit organization providing sports and fitness opportunities, leadership development and health education to enhance the well-being of underserved girls and adolescents.
The MLBTPA strives to provide professional baseball teams with the highest quality medical care in order to ensure an athlete's safety, health and well-being. Providing services for teams including the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox, the MLBTPA maintains its mission through continued medical research and the development of injury prevention.
