Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is proud to be the Official Orthopedic Provider of Chicago Platform Tennis, a rapidly growing sport in the Chicago area. Platform tennis is great way to get outdoor exercise but its fast-paced action in cold temperatures can put players at risk of injury. While some injuries are accidental, many of the most common ones can be prevented.

At Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, our physicians and physical therapists recommend that patients perform dynamic stretching before participating in activities. Dynamic stretching, which means moving while stretching, stimulates blood and oxygen flow to joints and muscles, thereby reducing the chance of injury or re-injury.  Watch this video for simple demonstrations of dynamic stretching for both upper and lower extremities, courtesy of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush physical therapists.
