A recent Chicago Tribune editorial titled "High school coaches are throwing their pitchers under the bus" cited a recent Rush University Medical Center study led by Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush orthopedic surgeon and Chicago White Sox team physician Anthony Romeo, M.D., found that 15- to 19-year-old athletes account for more than half the number of Tommy John surgeries. Dr. Romeo says that high school coaches are "not listening to the data or not interested."
