Chiropractic Care

If you have neck, back or other joint pain, chiropractic care may help relieve these symptoms. Chiropractic care utilizes hands-on therapy to help restore function and reduce pain related to both acute or chronic injuries.

Chiropractic care at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush allows for inter-professional communication, comprehensive evaluation, and the ability to meet the surgical and non-surgical needs of our patients. Our Chiropractic team utilizes The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT)—an approach for the management of spinal and extremity problems. It is a reliable research driven process of assessment, classification and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions encouraging active patient involvement and self care.

This method is widely recognized for its reliability and validity regarding the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal complaints. This allows for the best approach to identify when a patient’s condition will best respond to non-surgical care as well as when it may require a surgical consult and other interventions. Using a system such as MDT allows all physicians (surgical and non-surgical) to work cohesively when approaching a patient’s needs.

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic services involve treating pain-related disorders of the spine and extremities. Diagnosis and management are performed by the chiropractic physician and involve a thorough physical and mechanical examination of the site of pain, and areas away from the site of pain to identify possible contributing factors. Treatment of pain related disorders take into account the multiple facets of the person's life including biological aspects (ie. injury history, inflammation, tissue/scar remodeling, nerve pain), psychological aspects (stress and mood contributions) and social/contextual factors (work/home life). Realistic and specific exercise prescription is provided to every patient based on clinical findings, using a patient-centered approach.
