1. Dr. Park is an early adopter and leader in the use of biportal endoscopic spinal surgery. This is an adaptation of the ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic technique which allows a surgeon access to a patient’s anatomy through two tiny holes instead of one. “This allows me more flexibility and freedom of movement, allowing for a faster, more precise outcome,” Dr. Park explains.

2. He is a fourth-generation physician. Dr. Park has followed in his family’s generational footsteps but is the first in his family to become an orthopedic spine surgeon.

As an avid researcher, Dr. Park is studying the use of the Apple Watch to evaluate patient outcomes. “We ask our Apple Watch patients to allow us to track key metrics pre- and post-spine surgery, such as standing time, gait, and number of daily steps,” he says. “We have found it to be a great way to measure how well a patient is recovering as well as allowing patients to see their own recovery in real-time.”

5. He enjoys travelling to Korea to lecture on spine surgery techniques. Fluent in Korean, Dr. Park has had the privilege of speaking at the medical school his parents and grandparents all attended.

5. Dr. Park has a passion for medical mission trips. Growing up in a faith-based family, giving back was something he learned at a young age. To date, he has traveled to Uganda, Haiti, Vietnam, and Guatemala to perform both general medical care and spine surgery.
