Former NFL players, professional sports agents and experts in the sports betting industry will debate today’s hot topics in sports during the 4th annual Chicago Sports Summit, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The event is a benefit for youth organizations in Chicago.

This year’s Summit highlights will include a panel of experts, including two former NFL players and a D1 athletic director, passionately addressing the topic of whether or not college athletes should be paid. Another panel including sports betting industry experts and an Illinois state senator will discuss the future of legalized sports betting.

Some of the sports celebrities and leaders participating as panelists include: Nick Mangold, former NFL player and Pro Bowler; Emmett Cleary, former NFL player; Darren Rovell, popular sports media influencer; Dr. James Andrews, nationally-known sports medicine physician and founder of The Andrews Institute; Joe Bartelstein, sports agent to professional athletes; Jean Lenti Ponsetto, DePaul University athletic director; Frank Ignatius, founder of BetChicago; Jeff Kearney, global sports marketing director for Gatorade; and Napoleon Harris, Illinois state senator, former NFL player and a sponsor of the new legalized sports betting law.

The Summit is a benefit for the Chicago Sports Summit Foundation, an organization supporting the physical and educational development of Chicago-area youth through partnerships with local charities sharing the same vision.  A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to Girls in the Game, a non-profit encouraging girls to discover their strengths and lead with confidence through fun and active sports, health and leadership programs; Big Green, which builds and facilitates learning gardens for students; Chicago Run, which promotes students’ health and wellness through running; and sports medicine research at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR).

MOR is the host of the Summit and is pleased to join with presenting sponsor Athletico Physical Therapy and partner sponsor Optimum Nutrition

This half-day event, 8 a.m. to noon (registration opens at 7 a.m.), is open to the public.
