Dr. Kathy Weber Named to Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame

A sports medicine physician who has devoted her entire career to caring for professional and amateur athletes equally, Dr. Kathy Weber of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush has been named to the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026. She will be formally introduced at the Chicagoland Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on October 15, along with fellow inductees including Ben Zobrist, Mark Giangreco, George Rogers, Steve Smith, Ron Rivera, and Tony Petiti, among others.
Dr. Weber is an Assistant Professor, Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine program, and Director of Women’s Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. She served as the head primary care physician for the Chicago Bulls for nearly two decades. She continues to care for the Chicago White Sox, DePaul University Blue Demons, and Hubbard Street Dance. She has also served as team physician for the Chicago Bandits and Chicago Force.
In addition to attending to the needs of professional athletes, Dr. Weber runs busy clinics in multiple Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush locations where she sees recreational athletes of all ages and abilities.
Dr. Weber has held leadership and advisory roles on numerous MLB and NBA committees, including the MLB and NBA Team Physicians Executive Committees, Research Committee, Concussion Committee, and Combine Medical Advisory Board. She also made history as the first woman elected President of the MLB Team Physicians Association.
