Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) welcomes pain management specialist Craig Best, MD, to its team of musculoskeletal experts. He is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation/interventional pain medicine specialist who provides comprehensive non-surgical spine care to patients with a variety of neck and spine conditions. He will begin seeing patients on June 30.

Dr. Best earned his medical degree at Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Harrogate, TN. He then completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry) internship and residency training at Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), followed by fellowship training in interventional pain medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA.

Dr. Best's goal for his patients is to improve their pain and function, allowing for a more active and fulfilling lifestyle. He identifies patients’ specific pain generators by utilizing a thorough history and physical examination, imaging, electrodiagnostic studies, and diagnostic injections. He then prescribes an individualized treatment plan that may consist of medications, detailed physical/occupational therapy or exercise prescriptions, and/or a wide variety of injections and minimally invasive procedures.

Dr. Best has published articles discussing various spine and musculoskeletal medicine topics. He has lectured in the Greater Chicago Area, including RUMC’s physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program, on subjects ranging from diagnosis and interventional management of spine-related pain to running and sports-related injuries.
