Two MOR Execs Named Crain’s ‘2023 Notable Leaders in Healthcare’

May 1, 2023

Each year, Crain’s Chicago Business names approximately 30 influential healthcare professionals to its ‘Notable Leaders in Healthcare’ list. This year, two Midwest Orthopaedics at RUSH executives, Dr. Brian Cole, Managing Partner; and Renee Glanzman, Chief Compliance Officer & Director of Patient Access, have the privilege of being included. Midwest Orthopaedics at RUSH is the only organization to have two people named to this exclusive list.

Under Dr. Brian Cole’s leadership, MOR has advanced two positions in the national rankings to No. 5; grown its staff from 500 to 900, including more than 50 new providers; increased physician offices from four to seven; and opened four more ambulatory surgery centers. He recently led an aggregation with OrthoIllinois to form OrthoMidwest, the second-largest orthopedic group in the region. Dr. Cole is a team physician for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Red Stars, and Chicago Dogs, and the incoming president of the NBA Team Physicians’ Society. He initiated the medical coverage program for Chicago Public Schools athletics and is a professor of cell biology, anatomy, and orthopedic surgery at RUSH.

Renee Glanzman has oversight over several departments, including payer contracting, scheduling operations, and compliance. Her recent accomplishments include expanding patient-directed online scheduling, creating 24/7 scheduling access, and executing multiple value-based contracts, shifting payment models to compensate for high-quality care. She’s developed price-transparent package pricing for common orthopedic surgical episodes of care, a model that lets patients review the total cost of care along the surgical care continuum and offers increased access for patients. She is an active member of the Illinois Medical Group Management Association and serves as adjunct faculty in the College of Health Sciences at RUSH.
