August 12, 2022

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is excited to announce Dr. Jeremy Alland will join the roster of team physicians that will support the Chicago Bulls during the upcoming 2022/23 NBA season. This latest addition marks the newest iteration of a care team from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush that has worked to maintain the team’s health and well-being over the last 18 NBA seasons.

“I am delighted to join the team of physicians from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush that are tasked with supporting the Chicago Bulls,” said Dr. Alland.  “This role is an opportunity to work with some of the most unique and gifted professional athletes in the world. On a personal level, the chance to work with such an iconic organization in my hometown is a dream come true.”

Dr. Alland’s new role as a primary care sports medicine team physician for the Chicago Bulls is the culmination of more than a decade of study, research and practice in the field of sports medicine. Dr. Alland graduated from Rush Medical College and was awarded the prestigious William H. Harrison, PhD Award for selfless leadership, aspiration and collaboration. He went on to complete a Family Medicine residency at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, before returning to Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush to complete a fellowship in sports medicine.

Dr. Alland previously supported the Chicago Bulls organization as team physician for its G-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, in addition to his ongoing work with other Chicago-area teams that include the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Fire Soccer Club, Chicago Dogs (Baseball), Chicago Blaze (Rugby), Chicago Wildfire (Ultimate Frisbee), Chicago City Soccer Club and Mount Carmel High School. A talented amateur athlete in his own right, Dr. Alland played collegiate baseball at his undergraduate alma mater, DePauw University.

Dr. Kathy Weber, also a primary care sports medicine specialist along with Head Team Physician orthopedic surgeon sports medicine specialist Dr. Brian Cole, established the medical relationship with the Bulls and served as co-team physicians of the team since 2004. In addition to her role as team physician she was elected to the Executive Committee of the NBA Team Physicians Association and served on other NBA committees. As she passes the baton to Dr. Alland, she shares, "It's been a honor providing care to the Bulls organization over the past 18 seasons. I have full confidence that Dr. Alland will continue providing the quality medical care that MOR is known for and will be an important part of the team's health and on-court success for years to come." In addition to her practice, Dr. Weber will continue serving as the Head Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician for the White Sox, the Head Team Physician for DePaul University and numerous other sports team and athletes.

Dr. Brian Cole offered “it has been a privilege serving with Dr. Weber in this capacity as she has worked diligently with excellence over the last 18 years in providing care for our athletes and I look forward to working with Dr. Alland as a part of the medical team.”

The Chicago Bulls will seek their seventh NBA championship during the upcoming campaign, which Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is proud to support in its capacity as official team physicians. The 2022/23 NBA regular season will begin on October 19th and team-specific schedules will be announced later this month.
